How To Import App Templates to Your Site
This guide walks you through how to import a GravityKit app template into your WordPress site using GravityMigrate. Each template includes everything you need for a fully functional web application—forms, entries, Views, pages, feeds, uploads, and files.
Before you begin #
Make sure you have:
- An active GravityKit license
- The GravityMigrate Add-On installed and activated on your site
- A downloaded template ZIP file from your GravityKit Account page
A note on themes #
Our app templates are designed to help you get started quickly by providing preconfigured forms, Views, and feeds. However, because GravityView automatically inherits your WordPress theme’s styles, the templates may look slightly different on your site than in our demos.
For the best results and a polished, modern look, we recommend using a well-coded, lightweight theme like Blocksy, which works beautifully with GravityKit’s tools and ensures consistent styling across your Views and layouts.
1. Download and unzip the template package #
Go to your GravityKit Account page.
Download the template ZIP file to your computer.
Unzip the downloaded package. Inside, you’ll find three files:
- Template ZIP file — The actual template file to import with GravityMigrate (do not unzip this file)
- Screenshot — A preview image of the template
- README — Details on required plugins and a changelog
Note: Only the template ZIP file should be uploaded to your WordPress site. You can check the README file included in the template package for plugin requirements and version notes.
2. Import the template using GravityMigrate #
- In your WordPress dashboard, hover over GravityKit and click GravityMigrate.
- Click Import and upload the template ZIP file (the one you did not unzip).
- GravityMigrate will analyze the file and display the available items to import (forms, entries, Views, etc.).
- Select All items to ensure the full template is imported.
- Click Import.
3. Review your imported content #
Once the import completes, you’ll find:
- New forms under Forms > Forms
- New Views under GravityKit > Views
- New pages under Pages
Note: If your template includes embedded shortcodes, forms, or Views, you may need to update their IDs after import. Form and View IDs can change during the import process, so double-check any embedded content to ensure it displays correctly.
That’s it. Your GravityKit template is ready to use! You can start exploring the imported Views and forms to see how everything is set up.
