Case study
How Web Pro Geeks built an automated event directory using GravityKit
Web Pro Geeks built a custom events directory for Sensory Safe Events, Inc. Using Gravity Forms, GravityView, and GravityCalendar, the team created an accessible, easy-to-manage platform for promoting inclusive, sensory-friendly events. Led by CTO Allie Nimmons, the project supported Sensory Safe’s mission to serve neurodiverse children and young adults. The result is a modern, grant-funded directory that helps families find inclusive events with ease.

Discovering GravityKit
Allie had been using Gravity Forms for many years and first discovered GravityKit while working on the Underrepresented in Tech database alongside Michelle Frechette. That project required collecting submissions through forms and displaying the data in a directory-style format—making GravityKit a natural fit.
The experience gave Allie a deep understanding of the Gravity Forms ecosystem, knowledge she later applied when building the new Sensory Safe website. Much of the required functionality was familiar, allowing the project to move quickly.
For Sensory Safe Inc., the core challenge was creating an accessible, public-facing event directory. Originally built as a personal tool to help one family find sensory-friendly events, the platform needed to scale so anyone could browse the directory and submit events.
GravityKit made it possible to collect detailed event information, publish a powerful search experience based on criteria like location, date, and event type, and bulk import events via CSV—meeting both usability and operational needs.
When we wanted to implement a certain feature, there was always a GravityKit plugin that did what we needed. It’s been a delightful experience! Instead of needing to write custom code for things we want, we are able to leverage the power of the Gravity Forms ecosystem.
Building with GravityKit
GravityKit provided a strong foundation by handling the core functionality with ease, allowing the team to focus on more complex requirements. Building the submission form and event directory with Gravity Forms and GravityView was straightforward, even after time away from the tools.
Additional GravityKit add-ons made it possible to extend the system without custom code. GravityImport enabled bulk event imports via CSV, GravityActions simplified managing nearly 1,000 events, and GravityCalendar powered a location-based event archive that improved usability and SEO.

The directory utilizes conditional logic to hide past events and display placeholder images when a featured image wasn’t uploaded. The search feature at the top enables users to search for events by location, date, keyword, or category.
The Sensory Safe Inc website also includes an event overview page for each state. These pages show events using our GravityCalendar add-on, as this enables visitors to view events by day, week or month.

Sensory Safe allows anyone to submit an event, and they can do so through a simple form (powered by Gravity Forms, of course).

Not only does the Sensory Safe Inc directory look great, it’s also fully accessible and easy to use.
The impact
GravityKit enabled Web Pro Geeks to deliver an accessible, visually polished event directory that’s easy for users to browse and interact with. The tightly integrated Gravity Forms ecosystem made it possible to solve specific requirements quickly, without relying on custom code or piecing together disconnected tools.
As the Sensory Safe platform grows and more contributors get involved, having a cohesive, easy-to-understand system has been especially valuable. GravityKit provided a scalable foundation that supports collaboration and long-term maintenance.
As a result, GravityKit has become a go-to solution for similar projects. Its low-code approach, strong documentation, and responsive support make it an easy recommendation for WordPress site builders looking to create powerful, data-driven platforms.
I would absolutely recommend GravityKit to other site builders. It’s a fantastic tool that reflects WordPress’s ethos of powerful solutions with little or no-code.
Takeaways
The Sensory Safe Inc website redesign showcases the power of GravityKit in building accessible and user-friendly platforms for nonprofits. With Gravity Forms, GravityView, and GravityCalendar, Allie created a powerful platform Sensory Safe Inc that supports their mission of promoting social inclusion for neurodiverse children and young adults.
