[GravityView](https://www.gravitykit.com/products/gravityview/) has no setting that turns off a View's Multiple Entries page. To show one entry by itself, embed it on a page with the GravityView Entry block or the `[gventry]` shortcode.

## Show one specific entry on a page

Add a **GravityView Entry** block to the page, choose the View, and type the entry ID. With a Shortcode block, use `[gventry entry_id="6" view_id="137"]` with your own entry and View IDs. The entry shows in the View's Single Entry layout, with no list of entries and no **Go back** link.

Set up the Single Entry layout first, as [Adding fields to the Multiple Entries and Single Entry pages](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/getting-started-gravityview/getting-started-adding-fields-to-the-multiple-entries-and-single-entry-pages/) shows. [Embedding Single Entries in a Post or Page](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/getting-started-gravityview/how-to-embed-entries/) shows where to find both IDs, and [Embedding Views, entries and fields using blocks](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/getting-started-gravityview/embedding-views-entries-and-fields-using-blocks/) covers the block.

![A page titled Team Spotlight showing one entry's Name, Department, Email, and Bio](https://www.gravitykit.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/skip-multiple-entries-01-gventry-single-entry.png)
*The entry has to come from the form the View uses. If the View shows only approved entries, visitors see nothing for an entry that is not approved*
**Note**: If **Enable Enhanced Security** is checked in the View's **Permissions** tab, the shortcode also needs the View's secret, as in `[gventry entry_id="6" view_id="137" secret="your-secret"]`. The **Embed Shortcode** box in the View editor shows the secret. See [Enable Enhanced Security: the secret attribute for shortcodes](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/getting-started-gravityview/enable-enhanced-security-the-secret-attribute-for-shortcodes/).

## Choose the entry from the page address

The shortcode can take the entry ID from the address of the page. With `[gventry entry_id="{get:entry}" view_id="137"]` on a page, a link to `/profile/?entry=6` shows entry 6, so one page can show whichever entry you link to.

**Warning**: Visitors can change the number in the address. In GravityView 3.7.0 and later, that opens only entries the View lists, so an entry the View's filters leave out shows nothing. GravityView 3.6.0 and earlier show any entry from the form this way, so update GravityView before you rely on the filters. The View's password and publish status still apply.

## Always show the newest entry

With `entry_id="first"`, the shortcode shows the entry the View lists first. The View's sort order and filters decide which entry that is, so sort the View newest first: in the **Filter & Sort** tab of **View Settings**, choose **Date Created** under **Sort by field** and **DESC** under **Sort direction**, then click **Update**. A page with `[gventry entry_id="first" view_id="137"]`, or a **GravityView Entry** block set to **First**, then shows the newest entry the View lists. In GravityView 3.7.0 and later, `entry_id="last"` shows the last entry the View lists instead. A View left at its default order lists the oldest entry first, so `last` shows the newest one without changing the sort.

If the View shows only approved entries, a new entry shows once someone approves it. [Using the Shortcode](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/shortcodes/gventry-shortcode/) lists the shortcode's other settings.

## Show each member their own entry

A View filtered to **Created By** is **Currently Logged-in User** lists only the entries whose **Created By** is the visitor's own account. On that View, `[gventry entry_id="first" view_id="137"]` shows the first matching entry in the View's sort order, or nothing when no entry matches. Each member sees their own entry at the same address. The filter needs the Advanced Filter Extension, which comes with GravityView Pro. [How to redirect members to their own profile entry after login](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/advanced/redirect-members-to-their-profile-after-login/) has the full setup.

## Hide the list until someone searches

To let visitors look up entries without browsing the whole list, add a **Search Bar** widget to the Multiple Entries layout. Then check **Hide View data until search is performed** in the **Multiple Entries** tab of **View Settings**, and click **Update**. The View shows no entries until a visitor searches, and a search can return several entries. The setting hides the list only, so Single Entry pages still open from their own addresses. [How to hide results and only display them if a search is performed](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/search/how-to-hide-results-and-only-display-them-if-a-search-is-performed/) explains what counts as a search.

## Remove the Go back link from Single Entry pages

A Single Entry page opened through a View has a **Go back** link to the Multiple Entries page, even when the visitor arrived from an email or another page. An entry embedded with the block or shortcode has no such link. This snippet removes the link from every View:

```
// Remove the Go back link from Single Entry pages in every View.
add_filter( 'gravityview/template/links/back/url', '__return_false', 20 );
```

Read here how to add these code samples to your website: [Where to put code samples.](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/customizing-your-views/where-to-put-code-samples/)

To send the link somewhere else, or to change it for one View, see [How to change where the Go Back link takes visitors](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/advanced/change-where-the-go-back-link-goes/).

**Note**: Removing the link leaves the list open. Take the entry part off a Single Entry address, and the page lists every entry again. **Prevent Direct Access** closes the View's own addresses under `/view/`, including its Single Entry addresses. A View embedded on a page keeps working as before, list included. [The GravityView Direct Access Setting](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/gravityview/view-settings/the-direct-access-setting/) explains the setting.
