If you have encountered the `Failed to deactivate license` error message when attempting to deactivate your license key, it is worth trying a simple solution first.

 Hold down the Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) key when you click the `Deactivate` link. This will override the deactivation process and forcibly remove the license key from your site.
