If an update causes a problem on your site, you can roll back to a previous version of the plugin until a fix is out. The **Downloads** page of your GravityKit account lists the older versions of each plugin you can download.

## Before you start

- The plugin needs a license that has not expired. When a license expires, the **Downloads** page stops listing the paid plugins it covered, unless another license in your account still covers them. Free plugins stay listed. To get the paid plugins back, renew the license, as described in [Renewing your license](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/general-help/billing/renewing-your-license/).
- Back up your site first. Installing an older version does not undo the database changes the newer version made. If you can, try the older version on a copy of your site before you install it on the live site.
- If a bug made you go back, [contact our support team](https://www.gravitykit.com/support/) and tell us which version caused it.

## Step 1: Download the older version

- Sign in to your [GravityKit account](https://www.gravitykit.com/account/downloads) and open the **Downloads** page.
- Find the plugin. The search box and the category tabs narrow the list.
- In the version drop-down next to the plugin name, choose the version you want. The current version comes first, and older versions follow from newest to oldest. When only one version is listed for a plugin, its row shows that version as plain text.

- Click **Download**. Your browser saves a ZIP file of that version.
**Note**: If Safari unzips the download, WordPress can no longer install it, because it needs the ZIP file. Right-click the downloaded folder and choose **Compress** to make a new ZIP file before you upload it.

## Step 2: Install the older version over the current one

1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to **Plugins**, then **Add Plugin**, and click **Upload Plugin**. WordPress 6.4 to 6.7 name the menu item **Add New Plugin**, and earlier versions name it **Add New**.
2. Choose the ZIP file you downloaded and click **Install Now**.
3. WordPress says the plugin is already installed and compares the two versions. Click **Replace current with uploaded**.

- Go to **Plugins**, then **Installed Plugins**, and check that the plugin is active and shows the version you chose.
- Check that the problem is gone.

You do not need to deactivate or delete the plugin first. WordPress replaces the plugin files, and it does not delete what the plugin stored in your database, such as its settings and your entries.

## Step 3: Stop the plugin from updating again right away

After the downgrade, WordPress lists the newer version as an available update. If automatic updates are on for the plugin, WordPress can install it again by itself.

- Go to **Plugins**, then **Installed Plugins**.
- If the plugin's row shows **Disable auto-updates** in the **Automatic Updates** column, click it. If the page has no **Automatic Updates** column, your host or another plugin manages updates, so check its settings.
- Until a fixed version is out, don't install this plugin's update from the **Plugins** page or from **GravityKit**, then **Manage Your Kit**.
- When the fixed version is out, turn automatic updates back on if they were on before.

## Available versions

The version drop-down shows how far back each plugin goes. If the version you need is not in the list, [contact our support team](https://www.gravitykit.com/support/).

## Installing an older version from inside WordPress

To roll back from WordPress itself, use the upload steps above. **Manage Your Kit** installs the current version of each plugin, and its **Support** tab installs a build our support team attached to your account, as described in [Installing a build sent by GravityKit support](https://www.gravitykit.com/docs/general-help/downloads/installing-a-build-sent-by-gravitykit-support/).
